Redcogs, that right crank - looks odd in the photos - presume to do with your knee?

I'm trying to imagine the mechanics of it, how does it work?

Hi cheadle. You are correct, the right crank on the Thorn is unusual. i would have difficulty describing the mechanics of it in an intelligable way, but if you follow this link to Pedelec Forums, you will see a photo of the bike prior to the hub motor being fitted, and if you look closely the hinged crank is visible, along with some explanatory detail. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/ele...lp-needed-lots-questions.html?highlight=alien

That Brooks saddle looks well worn in Redcogs  And I'd say your butterfly bar installation is way better than Dom's amateurish effort.

Mr. Tyler, what you want is a superscooter. I've said it before but you're just in denial.

The Brooks fits the crack of my arse just perfect Crackle! Those who complain of saddle related cycling discomfort yet fail to take the Brooks route really need a good talking to - they are so comfy.

i don't know about domtylers butterfly bars i'm afraid, but i'd certainly be interested to see his bike.. he does have one i assume? :becool:;)

I think having a power assisted bike is a case of 'horses for courses'. There are some people who need them and it could get some older citzens a little more mobile, for going to the shops etc. as well as looking around the countryside. Personally I ride the bike both for commute and at weekends because I enjoy it and the added benefit of keeping a little bit fit does cross the mind from time to time. There are times, when I'm tired or struggling against a head wind, that a little assistance would be welcome but then when it's over I feel even better at having completed the journey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I would quite like a power assist module that I could just clip on and off the bike. Yesterday Gabey and I took the bus to a kid's party because I decided I just couldn't be doing with dragging him and the child trailer up Muswell hill against the wind. If I'd had an electric assist that I could just plug onto the bike, I'd have probably gone for it.

Having said that, I think the views are better from the top of the bus.
