Talking to my sister today she was saying it's starting to be hard work for her to pedal her tricycle, her son & more importantly her grandkids live about 1.5 miles from her, she likes to use the tricycle when she can, but it is uphill or rather upslope all the way back. She has diabetes not sure which one it is but it's the one that affects her eyes & she has almost lost the feeling in her left foot.

At the moment I don't know anything about the tricycle, but what are the options, a crank motor or a front hub motor? Is there any advantage of one over the other?

A crank motor will be better for hills. But you would have to post pics in order to see if installation of a crank motor is possible.
