If someone mails a GPX route to my phone, what's the simplest/easiest way to transfer the route directly (i.e. without Komoot, RWGPS or a computer) to the Ace?

Go to Routes in the Wahoo app. In the bottom right corner hit the large + button. You should see this. I've never done it.

Yes, it's possible. I have it set up on my di2 Kinesis ATR. The link below is the one I followed to set up on a Wahoo Roam v2.
I've hardly used it but it does work. At the time I was experiencing many frustrations with di2. My buttons are located at the top of the shifter on the inside face. The hood cover has three or four small raised ribs, the buttons are underneath these. I can remember using it on two rides. The difficulty I encountered is the buttons are stiff, it requires firm pressure and concentration to operate them. To use the buttons I have to move my hands to the top of the hoods. Overall I think the buttons would be better on top of the shifter. That would require downward pressure as opposed to sideways. That's an unnatural position for me. I must try again but my initial reaction is I was badly distracted from my riding - that could be dangerous.
On my Wahoo the right button on the lower edge of the device changes the page. I find this quick and responsive. Crucially it's not distracting to me.
Better Shifting
I learned a huge amount from the Better Shifting website. For me it's been a tremendous resource.
