Saddle position question ?

Hi, I have a new mountain bike and saddle in center of rail scale approx but I need saddle approx 15mm backwards to be about right and although there is room on rails for this I read it isn't advised, do I need a setback seat post to achieve this ?

Looking at the picture you obviously don't need a setback seatpost to achieve this. It's up to you what you feel comfortable with in terms of risk - personally I would just shove the saddle back on the current post. There are also saddles with longer rails as another option.

there would be little point in having an adjustable saddle / rail system if you had to position it dead centre!!

Move it back and it will be fine. Save your money.

As long as clamped on the flat bit of rail, you will be fine.
