PS - what do you call the OH when she's naughty? :ohmy:

I have been trying to be grown up and not comment on OH, but seeing as others are at it, - she's well nice! ;)

It's a pity that you and Abbers can't have a "Who's got the hottest Woman" contest, really. *
I'm guessing you'd win hands down babe..:becool::biggrin:;);)

*since this would entail him having to actually get one..

Yes Fru, the staffy seems fairly dominant and is coming out in her personality more. We will be glad when we can start to get her socialised with other dogs. She is great with people but haven't been able to put her head to head with a dog, so to speak. Going to vets Sat and *fingers crossed* she will be able to have jabs as kennel cough should be gone.

We also need to continue to work on separation anxiety but it's early days and so far I can't fault her at all. It's lovely to have something to focus on and throw loads of love and energy at.

just wondering, are you able (more should you) to leave a dog while at work? just thinking on it needing the loo, feeding and generally it getting bored and eating the sofa

just wondering, as i'd love to have a dog but if me and millie are working i'm not sure it would be fair on the dog.

I work fulltime but the OH is a nurse and does 3 days a week, 1 or 2 of these fall on a weekend. Luckily we have retired parents who are panning to have her around them - keeps my old man fit!

Petra (who passed away) was quite away to spend hours on her own just snoozing but this new little girl obviously isn't happy to do that. We are leaving her from times varying from 30 mins to 2 hours to get her used to it. There are times when a dog is going to have to be left and it does them good to learn that you will return.

Ultimately, the dog came from one of the shittiest rescue centres I have ever seen so, it's not hard to work out where the dog is better off - even if it means being alone for some periods.

I could be trying to teach you to suck eggs here but you don't make a fuss of her when you get back do you? It will re-inforce her seperation anxiety. Same goes for when you leave the house.

Yes used the same technique when we were crate training our dog. No fuss or treats when he was put in or let out. Different now. He's settled and is quite happy on his own and knows the routine. Don't need to use the crate now he's bigger, though it's still up for him to sleep in when he doesn't want disturbing, it' still his space.
