Used the data setting turned on today. Over 40 miles I used 3Mb of data. At my pace 40 miles is about 3.5 hours cycling.

Why does Endomondo stop recording on some of my journeys? Is it due to my phone?

I am just finding my round Endomondo so am not much help. However, yesterday, I stopped the program whilst using the phone, then when I restarted the tracking it didn't transmit my position back to my wife, although it recorded the route on the phone and later onto facebook. As for your problem, is it possible you drop out of GPS access occasionally. It may be interesting to see if you lose tracking at the same places on your rides.

Sometimes trees, clouds, tall building an other such things affect the GPS signal, also having the phone in your pocket can, maybe get an arm band so the phone can see the sky all the time.
I don't think it uploads to the site until it has an internet signal.

Are you on Android? Do you bring up endomondo and find it isn't in recording anymore, so you have to hit the record button again? If so, it's your phone.

When android starts running low on memory, it kills processes to get the memory back. It's starts with things that aren't needed, and then goes on to kill things you may want. The reason you get the little endomondo item in the notification bar at the top of your phone is because it's the best way the app can tell the operating system "don't kill me". But if it kills everything else, it will start to kill apps that have notification icons.

Best way around this is to make endomondo the foreground application; ie it should be the one that's on the screen when you lock your phone. A phone with more ram would make this happen less often, but if you can keep endomondo in the foreground, it shouldn't happen.

When it does drop out at least it uploads the journey to that point, unlike a previous one I have used that lost all the readings. I'm not suffienctly fussed to wear it on my arm, the phone is in my pannier, so maybe that is the problem.

Somehow didn't see this reply before typing mine. Yes I am on android and I'm a techno phobe, so the last thing I do is hit the play arrow just before leaving and then put it in my bag so it usually is the thing on the screen. It has been stopping sometimes when I near the journeys end when I phone mr summerdays, so that might explain (the bit about being a bit short on memory) why it sometimes carries on recording and other days finishes at that point. But if I get him (hubby) to look at it online then I won't need to phone him.

The phone does seem to be misbehaving, the other day it kept ring the doctors, I'd cancel the call only for it to call the doc again immediately. Took about 3 wrong calls before I finally got it under my control and im aged to ring the number I had typed in!

I am getting Endo sorted and have used it several times to track my rides, all completed without any problems, and it uploads the track to my Facebook group.

I am having a problem though. If my wife tries to track my progress on her PC at home the live track will work until I stop for some reason and the Auto Pause cuts in. Then when I start again the tracking on my phone resumes but not on our home computer. Also, if I leave the phone on Auto Pause for too long, I haven't worked out how long, the app wont restart automatically, so if I forget to restart it I can go 20 miles with no tracking, as I did yesterday. Not the end of the world. I am nearly 67 years old and have managed all these years without such toys, but if I have them I do like them to work or/and know how to work them!

I wanted to do the live tracking from my phone , but found my windows phone was rubbish at it, for one it only released my position ever 30mins and would not go less than that , then sometimes would work other times not, I ended up getting an Android based phone and using www.followmee.com and that works fine right down to 3min tracking points.
Also its a secure log in site not a public viewed one.

Ah I didn't realise there was Auto pause, presumably that kicked in quite a few times with me then. I'm going to give Strava a try this month to see how it compares. Mr Summerdays never got around to looking to see where I was!

As mentioned before, no problems here with Endomondo.

After 115 miles ride, sure enough the phone was off and battery flat. Yet as usual it worked fine for the 11 or so hours I was out, it simply turns off when the screen tries to activate when flat. The only time it has ever stopped is when it has been put in my pocket wrong so that the screen self activates.
That is exactly how it was for my older phone too.

When I first got this phone Endomondo was very flakey and kept losing the track. A while back Microsoft released an update from windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and with the update Endo is now rock solid.
