Endura baa baa base layer - anyone find it itchy?

So I've read a lot of positives about it, ordered one, tried it on and it feels itchy across my shoulders. But reviews and even the product itself says its itch free. So does this go away? Or do I just have extra sensitive skin?

Still has labels on it so I can send it back and try an alternative. But makes me question whether any merino base layer will work for me if this one doesn't

I can't wear any wool products against my skin. Thought merino would be different to plain sheep's wool but it wasn't. It's one of the few examples where I choose tech products over natural resources.

Bog standard non-woollen thermals. Do the job perfectly well and I always layer up/down if need be during a ride.

Can't actually remember where I got mine from, was a couple of years ago after an incident in the changing room of a sporty / outdoor type shop after trying on a fabled "non itch merino" product. I jumped around as though it were full of itching powder, nearly breaking my neck in the attempt to get the damn thing off, removed several layers of skin to get relief afterwards, and then bought the next lot of thermals I saw after double checking that nothing woolly had so much as looked at even the packaging.

No I find normal wool itchy but the baa baa merino wool is less "hairy" and more smooth.

If the OP is looking for a non wool base layer then I can recommend the ENDURA Translite Short Sleeve Base Layer, I got one last summer and it is a very nice base layer it is very light feels nice keeps you cool and is not too tight and also quite cheap.

I personally rate the Icebreaker merino base layers.

I have an Oasis LS and an Everyday SS. I plan to get more when I can justify the expenditure.

No cheap, but excellent quality and no itching.

Another one who didn't get on with the Baa Baa at all, persisted for a while but could never get comfortable with it.
I use some Altura synthetic ones now or my Helly Hansens, much better for me and itch free.

Same here, got one as a Christmas present (I wouldn't normally pay that sort of money) but don't wear it because I found it itchy.
Anyone want it (medium)?

No problem with Ba Ba here. But I actually find the Bespoke merino stuff the best and very hard wearing.

Rohan merino for me. Cheap one from mountain warehouse itchy. Get what you pay for, although my Rohan was a gift

It might be worth using non-biological washing powder (if you don't already of course) as well. I have never been able to wear wool, nor use bio washing powder but I've been using 3 merino baselayers over the winter and they're superb. Over time, I'd like to change all of my cycling tops to Merino or at least, sportwool.
