I don't really do a hard fsat commute each day, its about 40mins at around 8miles. But I'm being left shattered at the end of the day and the mornings when i get up. I gym too at lunch times, but having been skipping it due to lack of energy. Anyone else get this? I eat fruit, bananas etc. I dont eat choc and crisps - live a healthy lifestyle. Is it the time of year?

If you tried to exercise through a cold that'd knock you for six.

I used to try and train through colds when boxing but I just ended up getting iller for longer. These days if I have the slightest hint of a cold I stop training completey, including cycling to work and 9 times out of 10 the cold doesn't come out to much.

I normally find that just two or three days gives me the chance to recover and come back storming :bicycle:

The fact that your fit will mean your body will sort its self out fast. Do you take any vitamins?

Jake, the mantra is "listen to your body". Its just telling you to rest a little. Keep doing the things you enjoy and drop those that you don't at the moment. You can always pick them up later. If the tireness continues a visit to your GP will reassure you.

you guys take vitemins and energy drinks/bars? just got into work and sweating all over keybaord lol.

only ones i take are codliver oil tablets or something, and glutamine sulphate i think.

thanks guys for the tips. will sit back and relax some

I think the rule of thumb is for jouneys over 30min but under an hour, you should carry something to drink sounds like you need to follow this mantra. For longer journeys I use Torq energy drink as I've found I like the taste and it gets on with my system.

I don't bother with energy drinks/bars on the commute but do take a high strength multi-vitamin daily, as well as a vit C supplement and cod liver oils. I also have protein shakes on weight training days.

Like you I train most days as well as 18 miles a day commuting and personally I find that when taking them I am less susceptable to colds.

Although one nutritionist I know thinks that all they do is make you piss more expensive!

If your training daily as well as cycling then your diet maybe worth looking into - I pretty much eat whatever I want all day every day and still only weigh 11 stone.

If you look at almost any athlete they will be using supplements

I am finding that it doesnt make any difference now to my energy levels. I have been doing it a while, I do 7 miles each way, I have been eating a bit more but am going to try and curb that to lose some podge, I get a reasonable pace on and arrive sweating but feel like I could go double the distance, not doing anything else but am getting a Border Collie in a week which will need serious walkies.

Would be interested to see whether doing 14 miles 5 days a week covers the reccomendation for how much exercise you need, Its a lot more than I did before !

"40mins at around 8miles" each way at the moment, should be different when move to brixton this weekend. 25mins each way, nt sure on distance, more dangerous and a harder ride.

maybe some multivits then may help. used to gym everyweek day, but just cant seem to do it at teh moment, maybe it will change when the cold is 100% gone? thanks guys
