Why hasn't jake ball bowled more overs?

I think the problem is that England has selected 4 seam bowlers on the spinniest tract of the tour so far. Given that most wickets are probably going to come from spinners, there aren't many seam bowling overs to spread around

Which leads to the conclusion that selection has been rather shambolic. In the 3rd test England were basically carrying Batty and played with 10 men. In this test they're carrying Woakes and should have probably gone with an extra specialist batsman

From the small amount of play I have seen, spinners seem to have been getting the best results - that the selectors didnae think of this beforehand does seem slightly shambolic.

I dont think it really matters who or how many the selectors picked to do the bowling - on these pitches England dont have the bowlers capable of getting 20 wickets - nonetheless picking 4 seamers was definitely "odd" at the very least - picking more batsmen might have delayed the inevitable

My money's on that not happening.

your money is looking pretty safe

Back to earth for Jennings! First-baller after his debut ton in the first. But he's shown he is a name for the future and, IMO, the future looks bright, player-wise, for England.

As long as the selectors, coaches, psychologists etc. don't interfere too much, plus the real (£$£$) problem of too much different (Test, One Day and T20 ) cricket at both Test, international and domestic level.

On a bowling note: currently, Rashid and Ali bowled 108.3 overs out of 182.3. Makes you wonder what the men in ties are doing with regard to selection and 'tactics'!

Yup - be interesting to see selection pans out in the summer against the saffers - Hameed will certainly get a chance and hopefully Jenning - be interesting to see how they get on against a class of quick bowling they dont see on helpful pitches at home
