Looking good - they have not lost a wicket in the last 45minutes

Lunch would appear to be over

That's tea! England are 157 ahead with four wickets in hand.

One session left, light and rain permitting. Should be a comfortable draw, but there'll be a dissatisfaction in the England changing room at losing wickets when under pressure.

With a fit Steyn again, the 3rd Test will be a lot closer, methinks, especially as Amla, de Villiers and du Plessis are back in the runs again.

Yep, true. Although by all accounts, The Wanderers will suit our seamers better than Newlands.

"I scored every time I batted, I counted every single one of my runs. I didn't need the scorer. Quite often I disagreed with the scorer. One time I got 170, but they had me down as 140."

"If I was England, I'd have batted on to 700. They were so much in the ascendancy. It's not right or wrong, just my opinion."

Guess which big-headed know-all, who posseses 20/20 hindsight, made these comments?

The same one who made himself unavailable for the 1974/75 Test series to Australia with Lillee and Thomson at their most fearsome, perhaps?

To be fair, I think I remember him being surprised and saying he wouldn't have declared when Cook did.

His mum might have batted on that track with a pinnie on too. But that one's simply a matter of Boycott's a pinnie on....

Meanwhile, Amla has just announced his retirement as captain. Odd decision for mid-series, even odder as the Saffers have just recovered and played themselves back into a game.

Something we are unlikely ever to know, well not until someone writes their autobiography.
Well, apparently Amla went on to say that he'd been thinking about it. According to Alison Mitchell's twitter:

Amla clarifies to the press conference - says he started THINKING about resigning 2 weeks ago, hadn't made the decision 2 weeks ago.
