We have been away for the weekend.Seventeen of us celebrated my in laws 60th,Diamond Wedding anniversary.Place, Dog and Partridge, Chipping, near Preston.
Young Miss Postman came down from Edinburgh on the train to Preston, where we picked her up from. She has been in Edinburgh for seven whole days, she loves every day.She has seven new friends plus her best pal from school who is on the same floor in the flats. It's a weight off your mind when you know they are happy and safe.
We took Dan back to his house,he is sharing with two others in a lovely semi in a quiet street near Salford Infirmary. So tonight you could say this is the first night for us,alone. It does seem strange, bedrooms quiet and dark.Best thing is both of them have told us to book some holiday times with them ,so visits to Manchester and Edinburgh on the way.It is great to see them so happy with their freedom.

300km a week through London on a road bike.
Ah, life is sweet for you then and that's good to hear

If I had to live in a city then Edinburgh would be top of my list. Despite the cold and the strange accent, ken, eh; it's actually quite a nice place and feels less crowded and manic than most other cities I've been to. Good cycling to be had as well.

Good to hear you had a happy celebration - and that the youngsters came for it but, being students, I guess the chance of a good meal was irresistible ... :hungry: ;)

It's re-assuring for you that they have both settled well and re-assuring for them that it is neither too difficult, nor too far, to get home, should they need some home TLC !

If your daughter needs a local contact, I'm here, willing to assist if required - and scarily for her, much the same age as her Dad  !

On a similar theme, I probably only live about six miles from his lad, although I'm not as old as his dad.

Took my youngest off to Manchester this afternoon - the eldest went back last Wednesday so first night on our own for us too. I know he will have a great time and his brother is only 10 minutes away if he needs anything but i am drinking wine and feeling a bit odd!

You've enjoyed it mainly because you've escaped from Yorkshire into Lancashire for the day.:okay:
and realised that you can return to Yorkshire, without harm, or a passport.

My missus is still not happy with me as I've got a countdown timer on the PC 'til Andy R jnr goes off to uni. At the moment it stands at T minus 5 years 10 months and 10 days....

Fabulous place, Chipping. Great walks/climbs/rides amongst excellent scenery. Lucky you!
