Try climbing ladders in it to earn a daily crust! Many days it's just too windy to be 15 ft off the ground on a lightweight aluminium ladder. As for cycling i'm going out after this cup of coffee to try and do about 25 miles. Wish me luck!
By the way why haven't any southern based CC members been on to tell us how warm it is and how they're out doing a bit of gardening in the warm sunshine?:sun:

I was out gardening in the sunshine yesterday but it wasn't warm. Despite being further north than my Midlands hometown, Norfolk is definitely a dry southern climate! Local tomatoes grown all year round...

I can appreciate that people who work on ladders have trouble if it's windy but lots of people on here and other cycling groups seem more sensitive to it this year. Have road bikes got twitchier?

Good luck with the 25!

Woke up this morning and our dustbin was in the field behind the house and amongst the horses, one of the log stores had a side ripped off and the roofing cowl on the chimney gave up the ghost overnight - cost £90 a year ago and the flying saucer bit has sheared from the clamp bit, Hmmmm - that's beans on toast for us all week now.

Went out this morning and a tree had fallen across the road and it was hassle reversing back up the steep hilly lane esp' as a huge specimen of John Deere was trying to come down it!

2C this morning and got up to 4C according to amazing weather station gizmo out the back.

Council has dumped grit here, there and everywhere which is good but I hate getting salt on my bike. :cursing:

So tomorrow, I might chance a ride if not icy on the road and wash the bike when I get back or I might just bugger off up the mountains sans crampons and walking axe - they are gorgeously 'dusted' at the moment.

Hmmmm. 2 degrees out there tonight. I might ride to meet Hubster, then again, I might not. It depends on how nesh I am feeling nearer the time. 4 degrees tomorrow afternoon. Twice as warm :cold:

I have another couple of hundred miles needs riding this year and I'm determined to ride them. Thank God for my CX bike, thermals and my Sealskinz

I managed to do 30. The wind dropped but it was a bit slippery under tyre in parts.

Get down on the drops, tuck your elbows in, and let the wind flow round you. You know it makes sense. ;)

Works fine until a cross-ish-wind gusts from the side and you sway more because you didn't leave a gap for it to blow through.

I must have looked like I was praying to mecca coming back into town last night. Upright for the exposed bits, then down on the drops when there was some cover. Must be good practice for er, something?
