Epic logistics fail

Whilst looking through my diary in work I realised first thing tomorrow I have to be at a meeting which is in the opposite direction to my work- I then look across at the massive file I have on my desk which needs to be at the meeting with me, and the rucksack I have to transport it 12 miles home this afternoon- pants! Should have put it in the c*r on Monday when I was moving the rest of my stuff around.

Surely I can't be the first to get this hideously wrong?

What's that? I have to take home 5 full ringbinders of paperwork, my change of clothes, lunchbox and shoes? In a 10l rucksack? And I knew this was going to happen?

It's amazing what you can do with plastic bags and string - I was pretty proud of my construction. My shoulders and back weren't so happy though...

On occasions such as you describe I have my manservant load any excess baggage in his cycle trailer and follow a couple of hundred metres behind me to meetings etc.

You could always cycle from your home in West London to your office off Whitehall, while your aide drives the same route in your ministerial car, bringing with him the papers and boxes you'll ned during the day.

There is an honourable precedent for this type of travel.

Also... I wish to questuion your use of the qualifier 'epic'. I believe the word is used too frequently these days. Should the time come when an epic logistics fail does occur, there may not be a word adequate to describe it.

Please think before using the English language as your online plaything or communications concubine.

That's why I am so glad to have a "company" scooter in the office car park. That daft looking Vespa has saved me many a tiring journey.

I have been in that situation.

It's amazing that when you have limited carrying capacity you can make do with less paperwork. I am now a expert at removing just the important documents from files, you very rarely need the full file, just take the important bits.

For instance I'm working from home today on 7 reports, but I only have about 20 pages physical pages from each file and a laptop full of elecronic documents, so not too hard to fit in the panier.
