I've been recording the Giro all week, usually the highlights show which starts around 11ish. Every single time I've missed the last few miles because the show stops recording. Show was due to start tonight at 1115, it's now 1135 and they're currently still showing some news / summary show covering various sports.

I'm thinking the TV guide is a bit messed up. What a load of old crock.

they really cocked up the Tour of California...every night it overran it's recording schedule.
I learnt a while back with Virgin that it's best to record the programme after also just in case.

You'd think the system would be smart enough to adjust when programmes are running late.

Virgin needs a proper overhaul.

Yep, you would have thought that with today's technology they could do this.

I do remember old VHS systems that you put a number into the machine that corresponded to the programme and it recorded to the finish of the programme.

It needs a proper overhaul, but has little to do with your complaint. Many sky customers have had identical problems down the years. Eurosport listings are notorious - sometimes it is their fault, sometimes it isn't. It isn't helped that virgin when they get last minute changes to the schedule it doesn't update in the EPG.

On my old v+ box it is press v+ button, option 2 set manual recordings to put in stuff in manually or option 4 V+ extras and I can add upto 10 minutes padding from after. From the timing of your complaints I'm guessing you probably have a tivo. The tivo is completely different and I think you can set upto 3hrs longer (in recording options 'stop recording'). For eurosport 1hr longer would seem a fairly safe option to me.

Eurosport is a complete mess as regards timings. Overuns from 'more important' events earlier in the schedules is the usual cause.

The best bet for the major Tours is to record the last 90 mins of the live broadcast , as they dare not let other sports intrude into this territory.

I do, it's set a few minutes either side. Doesn't help when the programmes on the schedule aren't in the same order as they are on the guide. The news show I was watching last night was supposed to be on after the Giro.

The girlfriend likes to record Law and Order and various other shows that start around 10pm-ish. We only have a V+ box (not a TIVO), and she wouldn't be happy if my crappy cycling shows caused her to miss one of her oft-repeated shows!

Done that. But usually not enough.

You can get upto 3hrs on the tivo boxes, but the Scientific Atlanta v+ boxes you can get only ten minutes, which I agree is not enough. Not sure what level of recording padding you can add on the samsung v+.

Its eurosport , they have been the same on sky .
last year i recorded highlights and sometimes you would get tennis or football if they were overunning, people might knock the itv4 coverage of the TDF but at least you knew it would record and for some reason sky+ does not series link so i have to set each day up manually.
