Theres been 2 car parks destroyed by fire in the uk in the last few years. Both ICE. 2800 cars destroyed.

One was in Glasgow. It did £28.45 worth of damage.
I've got another invite to go and test drive Tesla's at the local dealer. I'm going to message them first to see if the new model X and S are on the list.
I'm curious to see how Tesla's stalkless controls work.
The other issue for most folk is they are only left hand drive now-not a big deal to me as I have driven LHD for over 10 years

Audio controls on the steering wheel are great when driving in a relatively straight line (ie out on the open road) but they're not useable in low speed manoevring situations, as you can't rely on muscle memory to instinctively know where they are; they might be the other side of the wheel, upside down!
BUt no-one NEEDS audio controls, so it's not a problem.
PRoviding clear indications is far mre important, both for courtesy to other road users, and for their safety.
And for their sanity, aren't you annoyed any sometimes endangered becausae someone has failed to indicate, or has indicated incorrectly?
So my heart sank when I read the VW patent application earlier this year, which proposed a stalkess indicator, using buttons on the steering wheel instead.
I wasn't aware anyone had actually implemented the idea yet. I'd like to hear real world experiences of it,hopefully Tesla have a better version than VW proposed, but I think it's a poor idea.

But no government is going to do anything that will alienate the car driving lobby; unless it wants to lose the next election.Surely fewer cars is the answer....

Anyone else now using the green energy forecast from Octopus? I think it's a great idea.
Basically, I get an e-mail now twice a week advising me as to the "greenest" nights to charge (i.e. which nights are windiest). Todays forecast is that Wed to Fri will all be 100% renewables, Tuesday is 83% and tonight 10%.

A Telsa EV owner who was caught in a heavy downpour of rain in Edinburgh recently related the following tale of 'misery'.
His Telsa wouldn't start, he was recovered by the Telsa recovery service and was subsequently handed a bill for £17,000 for repairs apparently due to water ingress in the main battery compartment, something which is not covered by the Telsa warranty. He kicked off about it.
As I said, his words.

I've heard of vehicles that have been submerged by water , water has got into the pack.
The battery pack is extremely well sealed, but not hermetically sealed
They have their own water cooling system with fluid flowing around the cells. There are also electronics within the battery pack but is separate from the fluid
We don't know in this case whether he's been through deep water.
Either extremely bad luck or information has been withheld to create narrative story.
Personally never had a problem, I've driven in heavy rain, but never ever submerged the cars we own. It's only like driving into water and hydrolocking an engine.
My friend did this on a country road in his Volvo D5. It trashed the engine and got into all the electronics. The car was written off. Being only 2 years , having top up insurance he got a cheque for £80,000.
He bought a model X , which he still own after 3 years

Why? EVs can cope with floods better than most ICEs and to avoid heavy rain?? WTAF?!! Are they also warning ICEs to stay out of puddles or is it assumed that people know this?
