I suppose this does make you think, I give my bike a good once over at least once a week, I hang it fom the garage ceiling by wires and inspect everything, ok, it wont spot metal fatigue but it will spot loose or broken stuff, based on the theory I would rather find it stationary than at 37.4 mph (current fastest max speed on the commute) on the way down a hill.

I manage to rip a Raleigh crank arm from the chain ring - nasty pressed together two piece job, broke a couple of rear spindles and broke the alloy spider on an XT rear cassette whilst attempting wheelies

worst was braking two seat post, last one was going up off-road uphill then next moment I am lying on the ground with bike infront off mem blood gushing out of my leg and me going argh!! (I didn't cry though, many would!)
