No. Genius stuff though. Imagine cycling around the corner into that. ;)

actually I have. quite a few years back I was in peak dristrict and the tour of britain came through.

I was on mountain bike, panniers loaded up from and back, waited for the tour to go past - didn't know it would be on my route then went up the hill - snake pass - the one out of Castleton.

the crowds went ballistic so no pressure to make it to the top then , bloody hell, I thought my lungs would explode when I got to the top but I did it, I was much younger and much fitter then....

I rode my MTB up Rawson's Raike in Ramsbottom just before that event in the national hillclimb series. Thought I'd quietly ride up a couple of hundred yards to find a good vantage point but suddenly found the route so lined with spectators that there was nowhere to stop and I was worried about the first rider coming up behind me so I carried on. Everybody cheered and yelled at the sight of this prize twat coming up gasping for breath, I felt a complete dickhead. Luckily I managed to find a place to stop at a road junction halfway up, where I collapsed over the bars and had a brief heart attack.

Ha ha! It was getting caught up in a road race that got me into 'proper' cycling.

Many years ago I was out tooling around on my old Puch, looked over my shoulder as I heard a noise and saw a massive herd of cyclists bearing down on me! I tried to outrun them (I was much, much younger then and still serving in the Corps) but naturally enough I got completely swept up! Managed to hold on to the stern-most guys for a couple of seconds - someone shouted "Good effort!" before they dissapeared into the distance.

I later found out that I had, for a very brief moment in time, been a part of the Kelloggs Tour of Britain (or was it the Milk Race???)

Not got caught up in a race but I once led a TTer astray when I came charging down a hill, overtook the TTer, tbh could have been anyone he just happened to be there at the time, who was coming from a flat section. Anyway kept up my 35mph ish required to get properly hooked up on a ramp positioned carefully to take me over a 5ft gate. As I landed I heard a slightly more colourful version of 'oh gosh, I didn't want to follow you' :bravo:. The chap was not amused.
