I've seen these on CRC and wondered what they were for. I actually found out this week- it's an eccentric and quite heavy gyroscope inside a case, which you can force to speed up to around 12,000 rpm by moving your wrist in the right way. As it speeds up the gyroscopic action and the sheer inertia of the gyro become harder to resist and you find your hand and forearm aching like hell. It's brilliant fun and fantastic training for cycling, climbing or anything that needs a strong grip. And it self-generates a bright bluey-green light from the LEDs inside too. I want one!

I have two! Very good devices, I use them because I got nerve damage in my wrist years ago and they strengthen wrist muscles in a way that you can't usually do in public.

My advice is to get one with the RPM Counter, because you'll only buy one later.

Hmm..the blurb says.........

Powerball conditions and strengthens the key hard-to-train muscles that make the difference in 95% of sports.
These shoulder, arm and wrist muscles aren’t the ones everyone has heard of. Instead, they’ve got names like “extensor carpi radialis longus”. But, they’re the muscles that power up your performance in sports where you use your arms or hands

Sounds good to me........

I keep meaning to get one, have been thinking about it for a couple of years.

Might try and nick a friends one as I don't think he uses his. I don't think my arms and hands are that weak but improvements could make some things easier.

Last year me and my family spent the day trying to get it to work. After hours of trying we were about to give up as they were leaving. I had one last go, and some how mastered it...que them staying another hour to be taught how to do it

I've taught a few poeple to use mine. The easiest way is to get it spinning fast with a really good pull on the cord, then just hold it lightly in your hand and feel how it's moving. It's easier if it's supported by your fingers and clear of your palm. Don't try to drive it, just let it gently move your fingers/hand. Once you've got the feel of the motion, try to move your hand, at about the same speed, just ahead of the natural motion of the ball. Build up the speed very slowly. If you try to go too quickly, you'll just get that horribly rattly feeling and the thing will slow down to the point where you need to use the cord again.

Then take it into an office full of competitive sproty-types.

And finally, imagine walking into the room 29 seconds into this video

Ow...my arms...................

Have a feeling this might even up my left/right shoulder imbalance..... quite fun - son mastered it quite quickly .. much harder on your non 'priority' side to get it right though........i.e. right handed easy to get right hand speed up, left..hard work....

Certainly worth borrowing one if you can - got mine for £12 after a voucher and discount.....
