Ever wondered why cyclists ride two abreast

Just spotted this little information video on the bike comes first web site. Wexford Couny Council released it as part of the '' STAYIN ALIVE '' campaign. I think some petrol heads need to watch it.

If the inner one starts to go the outer will be more likely to spot what's about to happen and avoid the oncoming grief.

Why don't cyclists crowd fund similar for England?

I'd wonder about that. Riding in a group two abreast if one of them looses it its going to result in an accident end of its not about the inner or outer rider but the ones in front and behind too. Half a bike length is plenty to take a wheel out which is all it takes.

Not sure about advising to ride half a length back for each rider in the group, it sounds a lot like half wheeling.

Person behind it has been plugging away for over a year with this. The fact that one County Council is now backing his campaign may lead to others following.
Official sites seem to be city based only, cyclingwise. His is looking at a nationwide problem.

That's called half wheeling and is highly frowned upon. A crash in a bunch is a crash at the end of the day, there are other ways to minimise that risk.

That's overlapping and a touch of half wheeling which should never be done. Front wheels in rear derailleurs do not mix amicably

Half wheeling in an "up and over"/ double paceline whatver the term used is riding in front of the rider to your left when at the front of the group. The front left rider being responsible for setting the pace by riding ahead of them you force the speed up incrementally.
