to be fair this is a real toughy, I've never had to guess, as well as solve, the problem before:biggrin: Do I need to start a poll for what the problem might be or is that going OTT?

If all else fails with Excel use Lotus 1-2-3

Check your macro's. You have inserted/deleted some rows/columns and this has broken the code. I do this all the time.

That's why my timesheets spreadsheet plays silly buggers, how do I check the macro's please?

I didn't write the spreadsheet and am thick so please explain gently.

Go into the tools button in the menu bar and select macros, you should then be able to view the existing. A macro is just a recording of certain action/s that can be repeated by hitting the run macro option. Check that what the macro does still refers to the correct cells etc, if it doesn't, amend and save again. To create a new macro hit the record macro button, carry out the various actions, then end and save the macro, I also name them. To be honest I rarely use them for everyday stuff as formula can be written so quickly and easily. They only really come into their own if you're churning alrge amounts of data in a repetitive fashion.

I really am underknowledged about Excel and thought Macro was the fancy name for formulae , thanks though MacB.
