I think to start with the law needs to be changed to make it not just a policeman observing the phone call to make it an offence.
And then make the penalties much greater as they obviously don't worry a large number of people at present.
Joe24 said:Although, to be completely honest Maggggggy, i think you do focus too much on other people. If that makes sence
What i mean in, stop consentrating on what people are doing wrong, and just ride.
If i spent the time saying to people about talking on phones i wouldnt be going anywhere.
Just relax and ride your bike, less time stopping and talking to them, means the faster you can go.
Finaly, if you can talk then your obviously not trying hard enough are you!!! You should be trying to stop yourself from being sick at traffic lights, and trying to get back some breath, not moaning about the usage of mobile phones.![]()
magnatom said:Damn, I must be doing something wrong after-all. On my way up Tak Ma doon, every 10 seconds or so (approximately every 100 breaths!) I would say something. However, it's best I don't repeat what I said here.... Someone has to think of the children.![]()

What happens when a passenger wants to make a phone call? Or when the driver has stopped to make or receive a call?
Cunobelin said:For passengers it is unfortunate, but as with much legislation, it will affect an honest and sensible person simply because a significant minority are too thick to comply
We DO have speed limiters - Speed limiters are available and used - they are compulsory in all vehicles covered by the European Council Directive 2002/85/EC which amends Council Directive 92/6/EEC. It has been adopted into GB Construction and Use Regulations through Statutory Instrument 2004 N0 2102 which came into force on 1st January 2005.
semislickstick said:You can by mobile phone signal jammers, they have various ranges, you could have fun with that every time you see a driver on the phone.....unless they just start concentrating on trying to get the phone back working?
thomas said:As a passenger I wouldn't accept not being able to use my mobile phone because some moron drivers use theres. That's just not good enough. It wouldn't be unlikely that people walking past cars may struggle to get a good signal....AND hands free kits are legal - would also be stopped.
As for speed limiters, yes some cars have them....but they limit the speeds to way over 100mph....useful.
I'm not for any of the things you or the ones I suggested.
(Speed limiters - New Regulations advice leaflet VOSA)he limiter will restrict the maximum powered speed
to 56mph (90km/h) for goods vehicles, and 62mph (100km/h) for
buses.
