Cheers Mick, I saw that on the BBC website and was hoping some of the locals could conjure up a much nicer forecast ^_^

we shall see.
Nice try. I usually go to the Met Office as they also show the surface pressure charts. This is Friday 13:00 UTC (14:00 BST). The pink occluded front over northern France sweeps across southern England over the next 24 hours, but it's pretty week and the isobars are nice and wide. If this holds true I'd say occasional rain and not much wind. Of course now I said that ...

Occasional rain and not much wind will do nicely

Cheers for the nice prediction

For those who have done this before, is it worth carrying a lock?

I would not be leaving the bike alone except perhaps at the cafe at the end where there could be 300 riders milling around.

Trying to minimise what I carry. As I'm down there before the weekend I might lock the lock there and just carry the key.

At your own risk...but I would say that you'll be ok without a lock, the café is the only place you're likely to need it and there's usually space around the back so you can eat and keep an eye on the bike. Leaving the lock there and carrying the key sounds like a good plan though.

Am sad to report that this year, there will be no tea stop at Luppitt  Sorry that we've had to make this decision, but we just don't have enough volunteers to run both Fivehead and Luppitt.

There will be some water left at the usual place for anyone who needs a top up for the last leg.

What the heck happened to the forecast? Tropical storm Bertha?

Thanks for letting us know. For those of us doing this for the first time, where is the usual place?
Good point, it's at 83.9 miles at Ewin's Ash x roads. The route instruction is R@X (Ewins Ash Cross) sp Dunkeswell, but if you turn L instead water should be on your immediate left on the verge just under the trees. We'll try to put a sign up.

Saw that, better batten down the hatches.
Seems it's the remains of Hurricane Bertha. Fairly weak by now but enough to be a pain for cyclists. Very unsettled area and difficult to predict it's track but the met office thinks it will hit Sunday midday. Week worth keeping an eye on as it could be torrential downpours and 60mph coastal gusts.

Not pleasant for cycling, but hopefully the timing suits us.

The forecast has changed every time I've looked at it. As long as it doesn't chuck it down for the entire night I can live with the weather.

Yeah I don't care about the rain. The wind could be a problem. Meet Office are saying that when it hits "outdoor activities will be dangerous" and warns of flying debris.

As long as the forecast remains for it to hit midday Sunday I'm fine. If it comes forward by 6 hours I'll drop out.
