I am well set up for front, the Hope Vision 2 and the two Tesco torches as a fill in for the beam on the Hope, makes for a bigger beam, must be good as I forgot to turn the hope down to flash and the Tesco's off the other night and some daft bint with a Dog steps into the road, stops and I stop and she cops for a facefull of white Led light "We only need to see you", which was ironic as she had just stepped out, I just said "I need to see where I am going as well and to see people who dont look where they are going" ! I mean, I dont think my lights are any brighter than then pulse laser cannons fitted to german cars nowadays.
On the rear, I have a Cateye TD610 (I think) the wide one and I had a Tesco flasher on my Night Vision jacket but the battery has gone, might get a couple of extra ones.
I try to mount them over to the right as it puts the drivers focus a bit further over, I notice having the bright fronts tends to make them stop when you have right of way as they arent sure what is coming its so bright, a car with a headlamp out, stops them bullying their way through.
I bought tyres with a reflective band on as I think we neglect the side visibility aspect, well a lot of riders just dress in black and ride with no lights, Ihave never seen so many, some cycle in a way that suggests they know they are doing wrong, jibbing onto the pavement as if they are genuinely concerned that they may get flattened, mainly teenage boys but also adults, ffs lights are less than a tenner a pair, is it so much of an effort to nip into a shop or is having lights considered uncool ?
