I agree with most of you, F1 has become boring and too predictable. I never watched it this year and don't intend to watch it next year, no matter who screens it. Health and Safety has killed it in my opinion.

Ten race live, which is more than the Beeb were able to afford. F1 is indeed tedious at the moment, but it has always had spells where one team dominate. Only a few years ago it was edge of seat stuff and at some point it will be again.

Someone mentioned Touring cars - I just can't watch that, it looks like Banger racing for IT executives.

Pleased to hear it! The end of a wasteful polluting excuse for a 'sport'.
Funny really that the electric version of the sport has managed to get off the ground...i don't get it.

Why are the cars electric?...its not as if the actual race causes a vast difference to the environment.

But the constant movement of the vast support circus around the world must eat up some carbon vouchers

It's unclear what C4 will bring to the party, but it looks like we're set to see the return of adverts during the race which almost inevitably will coincide with the odd moment of action on the track (how many times did that happen on ITV?).

The report says the races will be broadcast without adverts.

To be fair to C4 they have a very good record with sports broadcasting. When they first went on air in '82 they showed the city centre racing series, bringing the big stars of the day like Roche, Kelly and Robert Millar over to compete. This was the first time cycling got a real showing on British television and their coverage slick and professional. The evening Tour de France highlights also began on that channel, hosted by none other than Richard Keys. They also became the first station to show regular football matches from abroad with live Sunday afternoon transmissions from the Italian league.

They do a damn sight better job of sport than ITV anyway.

There wont be adverts during the race. All part of the deal.

Edit: beaten to it by @glasgowcyclist

Moreover it brings new technology, evolves it, and then makes it more accessible and affordable for modern vehicles. I personally think the BBC coverage was a bit pants. Suzi Perry needed axing in my opinion, she didn't have a bloody clue what was going on and ran on a script throughout most of it. Bring on Channel 4's coverage I say.

Perry was an attempt by the BBC to copy Sky's use of eye candy in sports coverage.

The difference is most of the lasses I've seen on Sky also know what they are talking about.
