When you join facespook, it helpfully asks if it can access your address book to find your friends.

Sensible people say no, but your acquaintance may have said yes, so fb has identified a relationship between them and you.

Or maybe a 3rd person, who had you both as contacts, allowed fb access so it identified that there was 1 degree of separation..
Thanks for the reply but that wouldn't explain it. For that would throw lots and lots of folk into the suggested friends pool. But I had a couple of folk which repeatedly repatedly popped up as suggestions.

On the above theme, I too have never given it my mobile number. Folk are too quick to say yes to online requests as if they are mandatory. Same way I almost always have location switched off on Google maps. It's forever telling me that if I don't agree it won't work, but of course it does.

Do you have to give them your phone number as part of the signing up these days? Or is there a way round that?
