Well yes, there is a case for keeping high sided lorries off the road (they are banned from certain bridges when wind speeds are dangerously high). Unfortunately this may conflict with our 'just in time' economic systems which require goods to be at a particular place at a particular time, so it may not be possible/feasible/practical to ban them from the roads for hours at a time.

It is going to chuck it down tomorrow, but I have decided to ride in nevertheless, and to enjoy it. It is all my fault for taking my mudguards off the other day after a couple of days' sunshine !
Not what I wanted to hear! Guess I should go and check out the tank-of-a wet weather commuting bike, to make sure it is all in working order for tomorrow.

- I've only just moved and in my first week of the new commute I got drenched 3 times
- Friday coming home I had 2 punctures (sorry I said the word) and the rear tyre was a bitch to get on and off and I shredded the skin on my fingers
- I have to get somewhere after work on Mondays and last week I only just made it in time
- I cleaned the bike today

so if i need to get to work "just in time" whats the difference ?? there isn't
If you have no alternative mode of transport to the bicycle which would fare better in high winds, there isn't.

Lots of surface water in West Sussex\Surrey this morning, one road flooded and went through one rather large "puddle" unclipped and legs out!
Forcast this afternoon is for more heavy rain and thunderstorms, deep joy. Although I have to say everytime it rains my memory bank recalls it being cold and uncomfortable still in winter mode and I am still surprised that once riding it is not that bad at all.
I bet just as I stop dreading the thought of riding in the rain, winter will be back!

I had a nice ride in, managed 14 miles in normal time.
At least it was not cold. I wore a simple waterproof jacket on top of my normal cycling jersey.
Yes, without mudguards my bum got wet but having read on here how it's not best to wear undercrackers under cycling shorts, I wasn't uncomfortable. I'm lucky to have a shower at work so have no problem getting dry. Although the radiators are on low, the gear will still be a bit damp at the end of the day. Hope you had a good run in.

I do enjoy the rain this time of year, but even I'm getting a little bored of it now this year. We've had warm weather for a couple of weeks and then chucked it down for three the start of the year, now we seem to be repeating ourselves!

Lovely soggy ride in this morning, took it extra careful so no Strava fun. I found a handy size rag to wipe my chain with once I arrived at work, which makes me feel a lot better about my bike not disolving into a pile of rust.
Looked out the windows this morning and it wasn't raining, so left without the proper rain gear. About half way in to my commute it started pouring down, and I got absolutely soaked.
I also need to get a new front mud guard, as the current one doesn't provide enough coverage, and the wheel sprays road water straight into my face/eyes!
Still better than taking the bus or car though.

Got soaked yesterday to and from work cold damp Lycra is not pleasant for return home trip but strip off and hot shower soon fixies this shame i dont have one at work :-( and damp shoes this am was "nice" any tips for drying cycle shoes fast over night?
Was thinking of you yesterday and today actually.
Even though my morning route is usually 20 miles in and the evening route 14 miles home. These are extended from 12 mile each way. So I have the option of the quicker, shorter option for instances like this foul weather. You however..20 miles each way... in this weather... Chapeau Sir!
