Yeah I have had this call 4 times now in the last year, played them along each time until they have got so annoyed they have hung up on me.
I had one last night. He said his name was Arthur but struggled to explain why he could barely pronounce it and why his pronunciation changed each time.

I got bored, though, and left him talking to the TV for a while. He'd gone before I hung up 15 minutes later.

Even when they ask me what version windows version I am running and I answer "see through" they still persist. 32 Mins is my record so far.

We have a home PC provided for my son by Home Access/Child Disability it has special software & programmes, addapted keyboard/mouse etc.
I use it occasionaly as we store all our family photos on it, and was on it at the time when I got one of these calls, and almost fell for it!
The way the bloke spoke to me I assumed he was from HomeAccess, so I went along with his requests. He had a very strong foreign accent, I had to keep asking him to reapeat himself & was really beginning to get fed up, I apologised & asked if he could transfer me to someone else...He agreed, the line went quiet, but i wasn't put on hold or transferred, I could her him taking somewhere in the background, that made me start thinking... then another chap came on - His accent was just as bad, I asked him who he was calling from & he said Windows.... I told him we didn't use Windows on this PC, He then said they where agents for lots of companies & Windows was just one of them, I asked him if he could Email me details of his company, he started to make excuses, I told him I would ask Home Acess to look into the 'viruses' they where telling me we had, as they provided the security package on the pc & he asked who Home Acess were.
I hung up on him immediatly. I contacted HA, they transferred me to Net Intelligence who did a remote on the PC & found it was all clear!

Keep Calm and OMG.......CAKES!!
This has happened to a friend of mine. Someone called up and said they were returning a call that someone in their house had made regarding a problem with their computer. She almost fell for the scam until he wanted access to the computer and she realised something wasn't right. She declined his help and the caller put the phone down

I had one of these the other week.

An Indian guy saying he was from Microsoft who then started telling me stuff like 'a computer uses "software" to run' and something about a virus.

I had no idea what he was on about (due to his poor English mostly). I just pointed out that I had anti virus software and that had reported no threats and that was enough for him to give up!

A gentleman from "Microsoft Support" phoned this morning to tell me my computer was infected. I just kept repeating "The Internets?" over and over, until he went away.

I had one last month. I quickly explained that I didn't feel like getting scammed today and hung up on him.

He had the bloody cheek to call back, to explain that they ('Microsoft') were offering me a free service to remove a virus they'd detected on my computer and that the least I could do was to be a bit grateful!! Unbelievable. So then I strung him along for a bit, asked about exactly how they'd detected this virus (which he avoided answering) etc, until finally, having established that they'd definitely detected a Windows virus coming from this location, I explained that we have no Windows machines here, only OS X and Linux. Then he hung up. <sigh>
