Kids bought me these a while ago, haven't tested them out yet but they seem really realistic.

Just you falling asleep? If so, it might not be the room all the meeting, but you.

I had a snoring problem, and after 3 sleep tests and a questionaire, they ruled out sleep apnea. But I had the snoring surgery, and suddenly I stopped falling asleep during meetings so I must have had sleep apnea, and was not getting a good nights sleep.

just putting it out there

(before that, I'd walk around during meetings: better to look a little weird than to start drooling )

A trick I learnt from an old journalist was to lick your finger and wet your eyelids. The cooling effect distracts you and makes you keep your eyes open. TBH it doesn't work for long... Eating carbs has a soporific effect, which is why the post-lunch slot at conferences is such a bad one to get as a speaker.

I use to love that when we went to meetings, back when I had a proper job  We called it Buzzword Bingo though.
we used to play that at school with one of our teachers; an American physics teacher. We used to keep a score card of how many times she said "yes", "ok" or "yes ok"... when we finally got caught, it was the turn of the brightest girl in the class to keep the score card (private school) so we got away with it. Instead of a bollocking she actually saw the funny side of it the next lesson... It seemed she had no idea how often she said one of those 3 words/phrases. It was not uncommon for it to be in 3 figures for a double lesson lasting 85 minutes!

I find making a positive contribution to a meeting helps keep me awake, I understand not all meetings are the same.

i have this trouble ALL the time! Writing down what they are saying helps. But i also have the concentration span of a fish which doesn't help either.
