My mum got annoyed a while ago when a family friend, who is loaded, wanted a lift from the train station. She openly told my mum "I wouldn't get a taxi because it would cost a fortune". She didn't offer any money for the 1.5 hour round trip. Although my mum would be too polite to refuse her if she asked again. I think she died so the problem has gone away

I recently declined to do an airport run for a distant family member.

Mrs D and I vowed some uears aho never to fly again. We could no longer square frivolous travel by air with our growing environmental awareness.

That being the case I told this family member that if they want to pollute their way to Las Vegas for a boys week away they can do it without me.

You need to start charging board. I would bet my best bike that her benefits are supposed to go towards her keep.

i charge £100 a month which leaves her with about £250 a month , it doesnt even cover her food but as she cant work due to health issues so tends to spend it on stuff that makes her happy but i have drawn the line at funding anything else for er ( she hasnt had her hair done in over 6 months but im not forking out when she has the means )

after the bills are paid mini ck 1 who is on universal credit has more than me , not even doing club rides as cake stop money has been put on hold this month .
A club I used to ride with some people took sandwiches, cake etc and sat outside when others went to the cafe. No one thought much of it.

The price of cafés these days I've started to wonder about doing the same.

I think I will do that or stock up on 49 p flapjacks from home bargains, when I started club riding I expected change from £5 , nowadays it can be over £3 for a coffee.Mind you till Xmas I'm down to work every Sunday so my weekends are limited.

Gone are the days when you used to roll upto a farmhouse, sit in their 'lounge' that they had converted into a tea room, and got a pot of tea and beans on toast for a quid. They all soon went in the early 90's due to commercial catering rules. Shame.
