We often hear stories of bad customer service. So I thought it might be nice to share some stories of good customer service.

I will start with Proctor and Gamble. I have had a Maglite torch for over15 years, which I got in the US, when I was in the Army. It has served me well over the years and I still use it regularly. The last time I came to use it, although it was still working it was very dim and when I went to change the batteries I discovered that they had leaked and one was jammed inside. These were Duracell batteries, that were still in date and I always remember them advertising that they were leak proof. I contacted them via their website and gave them details of what had happened. They then phoned me up and offered to pay for a replacement torch and also provided me with a voucher to get some new batteries. What great service!

Looking for a replacement is difficult now that I have discovered www.candlepowerforums.com These people are as obsessive about torches as we are about cycling.

Got a Roberts DAB radio for Christmas from my wife, and fourteen months later the volume went. I rang them explaining what had happened, all prepared with my indignant speech about how even though it's out of guarantee, I had expected better of a Roberts product, but I never got that far. They asked me to box it up safely, then the next day a nice man came and took it away, then three days later it came back, good as new. And that was that. No mention of guarantees, much less anything so vulgar as a bill...

Belling sent a service engineer out ro replace an oven element that expired two months outside of the guarantee period. I was gob smacked when I asked for the bill to be told by the engineer that the element had been replaced free of charge.

Other companies with exemplary service:

SKS - sent a replacement track pump handle nut from Germany FOC
Camelbak sent me a replacement bladder seal FOC from America
Busch and Muller sent me a replacement USB connector FOC for my e-Werk when I lost the original

All four companies are guaranteed to get further custom from me.
