Fastest time recorded so far - 46 1/2 minutes, average speed 16.5 mph.

Plus the fact that I followed a Barn Owl for 400 or so yards, it came up from the side of the road and flew just above head height about 3 feet in front of me.

Now I remember why I cycle

Assume not so many traffic lights in that happy part of the world. I can manage a similar time on my commute, provided it's about 6am on a Sunday morning....sigh...and nothing but pidgeons.

Mate had something similar when we were out in the kayaks.

Only it was a swan that took off behind him!

Must have been about 30ft of paddling where it was directly overhead, about 3' above him.

Now I remember why I cycle

I see a barn owl out in the fields most days along a section of my commute.

Sadly its just a pub.
