Not sure it'll have any effect. breakaway points are given at the half way point. And stage/GC points are given for first second, third, etc and we'll still have that. Ditto mountains and sprint points.

I didn't have a particularly good stage but seem to have snuck onto the bottom step of the GC podium.

I thought it would be a good day for me. I've got the stage winner, after all.

Unfortunately so do loads of other people, and what's more they haven't just padded the rest of their team out with ancient Frenchmen and South Africans on the point of retirement, fun breakaway specialists and other general dross.

The result was that my hoped-for meteoric rise up the rankings didn't happen. The Archies have pulled away from me. As has everyone else apart from Lanterne Rouge, who is contractually required to be where he is.
