And I need him more than ever now. Having lost Rogla and Ciccone plus Tarling, my place on the podium may now somewhat tenuous.

I've got three in the break. Looking forward to a huge haul of breakaway points, including Louis Meintjes' first points.

I'll be shooting up the league

Fortunately the big breakaway was classed as a break. And Louis Meintjes finally has some points.

What's more I was second on the stage. Not bad for a rubbish team whose two leaders are a) abandoned and b) sulking somewhere at the back of the peloton

Your podium is looking pretty safe, your maglia rosa looks pretty nailed on too.

I'm not sure of that, when the big points are handed out for final GC placings Derek Gee might not be getting all that many of them
I'm less than 1000 points behind, the comeback starts now (going to need a LOT of Bardet action and "Third Week Wout Poels" to finally get involved)

I think you need to self prescribe some non-hallucinatory pills.

You get three in the break for stage 17 👍

Stage 18 is going to be interesting for breakaway points - the break was around 35 riders, but exactly halfway was just after the second intermediate sprint, where Mads P plus one or two other riders (de Bondt and de Pretto?) hadn't quite come back to the group yet. Wonder if they'll give them points?

On tenterhooks. I think I only had one today (Ulissi)

As far as I can tell there were no breakaway points awarded in stage 18.

My guy Ulissi was in the big break, and he didn't get any. Mads and de Bondt didn't get any. Wout didn't get any. I can't be arsed checking any more. I think possibly the little group of sprinters didn't have a big enough gap on the big group to be classed as a breakaway, and the big group was too big.

If you don’t podium, it doesn’t matter if you’re 4th or 26th, you’ve failed. It’s all about Le Tour.
