I'd give you a like for the obituary but it wouldn't be right, lets hope you and your partner in crime can be reunited, but its unlikely and its sad when your bike goes like that.
I hope we meet again someday but whatever happens, thanks for all the times.
What depresses me about these stories is the tiny amount of time which passes before the bike is stolen.
No one can have known the OP was going to forget to lock his bike, so it must be that a would-be thief passes that way every few minutes.
The situation is replicated up and down the country, which means many, many, of our fellow citizens are thieves given any chance.
A mate of mine had his bike stolen from outside a corner shop, the shop's CCTV caught him parking the bike and it being taken.
The elapsed time on the tape was 40 seconds.
Another mate had a bike stolen from outside a public toilet.
No time recorded in that case, but he doubts the bike was out of his sight for more than a minute.
You are WAY too kindi think chopping a thief's hand off would help them understand the feeling of loss we feel when they take our nearest and dearest..
Good points. I did have a scan around the estates on the day and checked along the old Surrey Canal route to Peckham today after I read your post. It'd be a classic place to dump a bike but no sign.I've helped clear out a small river near me, and it was disturbing the number of bicycles half buried in the mud (along with pushchairs??). My theory is this is where they end up after unplanned joy rides (I have no theory about the pushchairs). As your bike wasn't locked up, it might have been taken by someone who just took it on a whim, and has not plans to sell it on. Look around the neighbourhood in case it's been dumped somewhere.
Sorry for you loss.
I was gutted for you when I saw your bike in the stolen section a few days ago.
You now have me crying into my cornflakes
If your bike doesnt find its way home. I hope the thief can give it some great memories, as you did.
