Ed I have a lot of friends who are farmers big and small, yes they work hard, most self employed people do, but none of them complain about the wages. A good few of our social night out are with the shire horse society, they are big pets to keep.

yeah, TBH we complain more than we ought to probably! parents are self employed (not farming but another branch of horticulture) and will often work on paperwork etc till 23:00 or 24:00
don't know any very social farmers, then again nor am i but i expect there is some somewhere. the most social me and my farmer mates go is going to something like a ploughing match or country fair
