You gain acreage by having 'friends' but it pays to dump your friends for newer friends. So there's a worldwide whirlwind of befriending and dumping going on, with people sending entirely bogus messages of friendly intent and then ruthlessly cutting them out without so much as a word. In doing so they gain family photographs from people in far off lands.

I've no real quarrel with it, but it is wildly, wildly odd. Are you ploughing your friendly furrow? Tell all.

That's pretty weird, but then I think Facebook is pretty weird in itself. I'd probably rather manage a virtual farm than subject myself to the tedious minutiae of other people's everyday lives, and subject them to my tedious minutiae in turn.

The OH has moved on from Farmville to Farm Town.

It drives me fooking nuts - I can even hum the constant music that plays. Apparently she has 'upgraded' this weekend and has been 'sent' loads of gifts from fellow sad twats farmers. Such gifts include a pink cow from which you 'harvest' strawberry milkshake.

Of course, on the plus side, I get to bugger off on my bike when I like without a winge or a moan.

No don't do it! just don't! my opinion of you Dell has lowered considerably..Farmville? Honestly?!

The time to really worry is when you're out somewhere and the FT/FV fanatic starts panicking as it's nearing the time to harvest the brocoli or whatever. Frantically texting a farming neighbour to ask if they will complete the task for them.

I've seen lots of posts about some wird farming game and never really cottoned on that there was some popular (and strange) behind it.

Anyway, my most recent facebook status update was "Contemplating Facebook suicide". In reality, i think i might just create a new account under a pseudonym so that i can keep in touch with the people whom insist on using facebook as an address book. I'm becoming more and more vexed by online privacy these days as i learn more about my industry and where we are heading.

I'll keep my Tollers username here, but from now on, i shall only respond to the name of "Mark Mywords"
