I have been working outside this morning trying to discover why I can't select all 3 chain rings. With the cables disconnected I can select all 3 so it seems to point to the front changer. I found that If I loosened the cable and pulled the changer over to the outer chain rings and then tightened up the cable clamp I could get it to go onto the middle chainring. It could just be down to adjustments although it needs quite a bit of effort on the lever.
It was fun trying to put the lever back on.

Ooh dear getting sti units back on to brackets is a nasty job for sure and well avoided in my book .

I like the ping when a small stone deflects of a tyre at 100 psi

Let's hope you get all the gears working ok

I will have to get my Pinarello Angliru lacquered and built up to see how they compare. I have read that my Angliru is an entry level bike and can be seen in how the welds have been finished and how stickers have been applied instead of masking out and spraying.
I don't think I have paid that much attention to detail for my British steel bikes before so I think I may look at them a bit more closely.
