That's true, and in Pakistan too. The left hand is reserved for arse-wiping and other unhygeinic duties.

My experience of Hindu families in the UK is that this will be the case here as well. Cutlery not used at the table, fully vegetarian and eat with right hand. It is the custom and frankly one I'm more than prepared to adopt when in someone else's house. Mostly because the food's so good. The family will eat together.

Don't expect to be offered alcohol either.
