Though it's better when they're wearing their monkey masks and sitting side by side

There's only one Buddy Rich (adding to my suspicion that men in suits/bow ties are miles better than rock drummers)
Some drummers are so good you'd need a couple of mortal ones to replicate them. Buddy Rich is one, Brian Blade another. The only decent Rock drummers are failed Jazz drummers.

Agreed, some band (I forget who) is covering the whole of the first Stone Roses album, and apparently they're using two drummers to replicate what the original drummer was able to play.

Here's some Butch Trucks then if we're picking out cool drummers. This is from Ton Ton Macoute by Johnny Jenkins, cool LP.

YES! I saw The Melvins at ATP in Minehead a few years ago and in the last song a curtain went up and revealed an additional two drummers, a few bars later another curtain went up revealing another two drummers! SIX!
You, lukky, lukky.... ;)

Their new album is due out on 30/4/13... and I can't wait

First time I saw 2 drummers in a band was when I went to see 10cc in 1973. Kevin Godley and some other bloke can't remember his name but the sound was great and it was good to watch.
