Just been sent the following by the lad who organised CW's Maratona Dolomiti trip earlier this month and I hope it gives a flavour of the event. (I'm the good looking guy in the photo of the CW riders)

The event itself I'd rate as easily the best overall Cyclosportive I've ever done. Everything about it is spectacular from the scenery to the organisation. The days leading up to the event sees the roads packed with riders tackling various parts of the route all in brightly coloured gear and fabulous bikes. The cafes and bars are full of stylish Italian riders in very expensive kit trying to outdo each other in the fashion stakes and the array of bikes has to be seen to be believed.

Anyway, have a read and maybe have a go yourself next year?

You're not still banging on about this are you?

The link is very slow to open so I'll have a look when I've got more time. You did sell it to me with a great description the other week. It sounds excellent. Are the road surfaces in good nick?
And can I ask for a rough estimation of total cost please? I do fancy seeing a bit of abroadshire next year by bike and from your report, this did appeal.

It only appeared this morning!

The road surfaces were generally excellent. Of course some of the roads are at 2,000 metres and it can get cold up there, especially in the winter so some of the surfaces can get a bit "bumpy" but on the whole, they were certainly better than a lot of the quieter roads experienced in Lancashire and North/West Yorkshire where we ride.

Cost wise, it was £60 to enter the event with CW and for that you get that years' Maratona cycle top and great goodie bag while you also get a CW T-shirt from the mag. A cheapo flight from Leeds/Bradford to Venice will set you back about £100 tops all in and then you need car hire/transport at the Italian end and your accom. We went for a week staying at a good hotel in Corvara (where the event finishes so I'd recommend there) and that set us back about £750 for two of us.

The scenery shots and the mass of cyclists is bloody fantastic! What an experience that looks like.

It was certainly one of the best experiences of my life thus far.
