I just trued my first wheel! Really chuffed (although I now know that it isn't that difficult!). Thanks to @mickle for his thread :-)
It's something I've wanted to do for ages but never had the nerve to try (I'm a bit crap at things like that). The LBS usually charges £10 so quids in!!!

Anyone one else done something new for the first time today, learned a new skill or saved a bit of cash?

I also feel like a manly man, but I don't know where you might get hold of one!

Well done!

My manliness rating went up by 68% today after I punctured on my way home ...

I found a very tiny piece of metal in my tyre and the only way I could get it out was using my teeth!

Apart from that, I decided to try out my new 'no-tyre-levers' technique. (I did have tyre levers with me, but have worked out how to get tyres off and back on again using just my bare hands.)

My new motto is "Manly Men Don't Need Tools"! :becool::laugh:

I need to learn this! Is it actually possible without levers???

It definitely is, or rather CAN BE, because I did it this afternoon and I do not have hands with the strength of a gorilla!

You do need some moderate hand strength, though it is mainly technique.

I know from experience that some combinations of rim and tyre are extremely difficult with or without levers but I was using a Michelin Lithion tyre and a Mavic Aksium wheel and this combination seems ok. I have found certain other combinations to be pretty easy.

I am the only resident of this house that can open a new jar of marmalade.

Now that is manly! (Even though the opposition is t'missus and the cat )
