In 1949, Pope Pious XII recognised the bike community's adoption of the Madonna del Ghisallo, bestowing upon her the title of Patron Saint of Cycling. Today, the Church is a small slice of bike lover's paradise

I did a bit of a google and found two other candidates for the patron saint of cyclists: another Madonna, Notre Dame de la Route and St Catherine of Alexandria. St Kate is probably a poor choice, as she was sentenced to death "on the wheel" but touched it and it broke. Not sure I'd want to pray to her if I had a broken spoke. Oh yes, and they named a firework after her.
