In what format do you save the scanned docs, and how do you search for them subsequently? With paper, you can quickly flick through a file until you visually recognise something. Is there a visual method of doing the same with a whole heap of scanned documents?

Thanks.

.pdf - the oldest stuff I have was tiff - but pdf is better

the key to finding stuff - is a good folder system - need to think about how it works before hand - otherwise backups can get messy - then it becomes easy to visually flick thro the descriptive (should be as short as makes sense and contain keywords) filenames -

slowmotion

Quite dreadful

Thanks. What I'd really like is some means of visually flicking through a load of "thumbnails" as well as the date/subject titles.
The real problem is that I'm fundamentally lazy and chaotic!

you can do the visual thing if you go to exxtra large icons and set half the screen to preview pane - unless I really do not know what im looking for then I dont do that often - my reverse date file sorting always puts the most recent at the top - rare that i look for something more than a year old

We've actually got, actually got, an Ikea folder with what looks like everything we've ever bought there in it. I may build a special fire for that one.

The white little pads of paper?
I thought those were a colouring book to keep the kids occupied while you built the furniture!

I moved a year ago and ended up with about 6 large boxes full of paperwork and old magazines. They sat in the corner of my bedroom for 6 months, when I finally decided to start sorting through them. Doing 6 boxes at once would be too much for me, so I decided to do the sorting in 2 instalments of 3 boxes ... I now have 3 boxes of paperwork and old magazines in one corner of the room, 3 empty boxes in another corner, and a pile of paperwork and old magazines on the floor in a third corner!

We moved three years ago and started a live in house renovation. When we need to move boxes from one room to another to do the next bit we start with a box smaller than the one we open and a bin bag.
This forces us to sort / find a permanent home or throw out but with the option of re-packing things that don't want to be unpacked just yet.
