I reported a damaged road one morning to find them fixing it when I cycled past about an hour later.

Somehow, I doubt my reporting it had anything to do with them fixing it.

My best one was I had marked the pot hole on Bristol Streets after I had hit it at speed - went back to photograph properly ... took photos .. did a quick 15 minute loop and back past the spot and they had fixed the worst 2 holes and were gone.

Do you guys not know how to bunny hop?

Depends how long you leave it. One of the potholes I saw got so big it became about 8ft by 2ft and you could ride through it.

that's nothing, I reported a series of 3 potholes that were deep enough to make double deckers rock as they went over them, they were alongside a bus stop and extended for about the same length as 2 buses. They were really, really huge. A couple of months later they closed off the lane and resurfaced it properly.

It's what you get when you don't call Ghostbusters.

On the topic of resurfacing I found out that one of my pet hate roads is to be redesigned and resurfaced this year - maybe. The water companies have delayed it by two years with the major work they've been doing .

There was a useful track around a church but I presume it was privately owned by the church so not fixed for ages. No lights on the lane but several enormous potholes the largest of which was about 2 ft across by 4 inches deep. I used to cycle on the wrong side of the road in the dark to avoid it if there weren't cars trying to take the short cut too. Luckily they have filled the largest ones in there now.

Finally filled in. Only nearly 3 months! Woo!

My understanding is that the councils only defence for issues caused by a road in a poor state of repair is that they did not know about it. (They cannot detect pot holes instantaneously!). If it has been reported (i.e. filll that hole) then they have no defence as they know about the hole etc.
