But if the film was good in the era it was made, it should be left alone (eg Planet of the Apes, look what happened to that). People just need to accept the tech as it was then.

I agree they ruined that film. Others may disagree but Jackson's King Kong was pretty average too, the usual 3 hour long snorefest. Of all the 3 King Kong films the original is still definitely the best and it was made in 1933.

It seems to have faltered a bit.

I'm not a fan of remaking films just to update the effects. The Dambusters was a great film, about a fantastic subject, and the effects didn't matter one bit, to me. I don't need a realistic flood to understand the effect on people, and the dangers the crews faced, and the ingenuity of the inventions. And I'd rather have a film that had a few real Lancasters in it, than hoards of CGI ones.

It looks like the Dambuster's is going to be remade as mentioned on todays Sun's website. Looks like the only change is, its an "Australian" dog in it this time. As mentioned in the news a while ago, the dogs name will be changed.

What a load of toss

Films are often based to reflect the times and politics of the filming not the film

Take the remake of the Prisoner

Every single aspect was changed as Portmerion was too obscure, the cold war too far in the past and the vehicles and Rover too dated and toll little technology

It therefore needed to be updated and bore no resemblance to the original

The Wicker Man was another example of updating and failing to be as good

Robin Hardy has now filmed the Wicker Tree which is a similar plot, but updated the pltocs and reign us aspects, I await the result.

However film remakes tend to be crap!

not so much a remake but a follow up... John Cooper Clarke has just been on 6 Music's Radcliffe & Maconie show suggesting a 'terrifying' sequel to Snakes on a Plane... Parrot in a Car

The more i think about it the more it could work.

[sub](if anybody wants to listen again, it was around 2.45pm... so 1 hour 45 mins in to Tuesday 14th's show)[/sub]

'The Sicilian' a story by Mario Puzo drawn from the real life Sicilian Bandit Salvatore Giuliano.

As for why, I can do no better than quote Amazon reviewer, Mrs Sharpe

Do not buy this film, its AWFUL, crap acting, dreadful casting and generally a DISASTER. buy the book instead, its fantastic.

whose review was the simple truth.
