The Stuff of Life did go on a bit, it's true. Not without value but it did seem to take the long path around the park, if I can put it like that... and it wasn't a particularly profound or original park either!

The biggest problem with The Life of Stuff was that, IIRC, the chap that wrote it also directed the stageplay to quite good reviews. When it came time to choose the director for the film, rather than get someone who knew film, he got the nod. The end result was a film that used a few sets where the action was and any off stage action being talked about. In film medium this could have been done better by shooting scenes rather than dialog. Mind you it has been over 10 years since I saw it, so I may have misremembered it.

10 years ago? Made me twig that we were talking about different films! I was talking about last year's 'The Tree of Life'! Sorry, my mistake.

I've been a member of LoveFilm for sometime now. Recent 5 minute crap I can currently recall have been Mr. Nice. Book was good, film was slow and crap.
Also 44" Chest. Another load of violent, pointless crap.

Has anyone seen The Crying Game? Watched that (in full) just before Christmas. Was a good film, and then it turned. Massively!

Inception. I took all the hype on board and decided to give it a go even though I am not a big fan of DiCraprio. I disliked it from the start and should of switched it off straight away. But I stuck it out for an hour and half, and I finally gave in when they were fighting in a corridor in some kind of zero gravity thingy, it was so obvious they were on wires. 8.8/10 on the IMDB, higher than Bladerunner and equal to Goodfellas

I'm so glad to know there's someone else out there who thinks that film is awful & boring. I only gave it the one try though - life's too short as it is!
Lots of people I know rave about it though so I kept thinking I must have been missing something. I've now decided it's not me, it's just rubbish!

I've kind of touched on this before, I don't think 'The Matrix'* is that bad. Ok, it's not as good as you'd been lead to believe, nor even as good as other people might think, but it doesn't stink. Not big time. Not if you sit it alongside other films you've seen that you've expected to be rubbish.

In fairness, what probably makes you feel it sucks is that you've had expectations not met by it. I have a similar hatred for 'Good Will Hunting'. I loathed it, it was offensive crap of the highest order to my eyes; pathetic, puerile, naive twaddle. BUT, for the life of me, I cannot even begin to have a semblance of objectivity about it because of the hype it got and so the expectations I had. If I had had no prior knowledge of it, it maybe it would simply have been forgettable... maybe..... nah, objectively it sucked

*Insert favourite worst film.
