Filtering passed cyclist?

So if i understand correctly, he passed you and other stationery road users just to get to the front of the queue, then the lights changed
and those cars and yourself passed him.
What a numpty.
What a pointless thing to do ... better to stay in the middle of the lane with cars in front and behind and just wait until the lights change.

Unless you're able to accelerate from 0-30mph between traffic lights its absolutely pointless to creep pass waiting cars, as they're going
to pass you within ten seconds of the light changing.

I think that is the pessemist in you;) I only said he filtered then I passed. My point was there didnt seem a reason for his annoyance, as there were no too close passes that I saw. He just seemed very annoyed?

Is that all you said?
While in traffic a cyclist filtered down my inside, was then held up by lights. When the lights changed I caught up as the traffic got moving, and filtered passed him at the same speed and space he did with me, why would he be annoyed?
So how much space did he allow you when he filtered past you?

Sadly as you were in a car, on here your scum , the devil , you might as well have gone to his house and killed his dog and pi**ed on the kids, as car drivers are never right and cyclists are angels.
I would much rather have a car come past me close with confidence than one dithering behind waiting a mile to pass.

Or to look at that a different way. What a bunch of numpties in their cars, after all they know that the cyclist is only going to catch them up at the next light, so it would make much more sense to wait behind.

How i ride they are unable to pass leading up to lights. :gun:

And you believe the amount of space was sufficient. In which case there isn't an issue but you may want to be a little bit clearer in future

Tried that, got sick of the big tough cyclists cowering begging for mercy, so dont bother now^_^

I often get youtube comments stating that I shouldn't pass the cars so close, as I complain about them overtaking me at a similar distance but the way a car and a bicycle works are completely different. Firstly ... etc
The problem gaz, is not with your logic but with the fact that you have applied logic and you have applied your logic with an understanding of life as a cyclist.

I think that, if you could remove your cyclist's viewpoint and remove the logic, replacing it with the mental state of many car drivers when stuck in traffic on their daily commute, it would boil down to "The cyclist felt it was ok to pass within 2cm of my mirror so why is he annoyed when I leave him 60cm?".

You know why the cyclist was annoyed, I know why the cyclist was annoyed and I would hazard to suggest that col might also know why the cyclist was annoyed. What the cyclist doesn't know, or doesn't grasp, is that there may be a cause and effect happening there.

IMO.

Your point is a fair one, but your 2cm vs 60cm can be thrown out of the window by what col said.

That is indeed true, if we take Col's OP literally.

However, I took it to be setting up a hypothetical situation as I think he suggested, later in the thread, that he did actually give more room than the cyclist had allowed, but other cars were closer.

Which I did at the time, which I think is fair. Of course when I found out that what he actually did was different, then my opinion changed
