small rant sorry,

Its too warm to wear long sleeved stuff, but its too cold to wear short sleeved. its also too wet to wear anything but the boil in the bag, i don't have overshoes and i'm now worried that my shoes which are permanently wet will rot and fall apart.
the route i usually take is now a muddy quagmire (giggedy) of pot holes and cow muck my bike is layered with hard packed poop and mud, cleaning it may be possible but i reckon i'll need to ride it through a car wash..

on the plus side, cycled from irlam to widnes the other day in the pouring rain and into a headwind all the bloody way and got there feeling like a million squids of awesome, in fact i was ready to just continue and see where i ended up :biggrin:

all the rainy cycles have been similar, happy warm cycling in heavy rain and not a sign of illness anywhere (touch wood) whilst laughing maniacally when the rain comes down harder trying to shatter my cycling spirit - and failing miserably.

on a related note, anybody know where to get some waterproof shorts from? i've got my cyclers on a drying rotation but i'm fast running out or cycling damp.

Waterproof shorts... I got some hiking type shorts which I wear over some padded under-shorts. They are lihgtweight, more waterproof than lycra, dry extremely easily/quickly and keep you comfier than cycling in wet lycra shorts.

I am fully mudguarded up, i need a flap on the front tho i still get a bit of splash on my shoes.

the waterproof shorts thing? i dunno, i just wear shorts all year round, i don't like wearing long pants unless its 0°C or below, anything above that really i'm usually warm enough (certainly hairy enough) to not bother, but i hate wet underwear so waterproof shorts are on the cards thanks for that BP ;)

@friz: Rule 9?

meh, its actually less complicated to get muddy then it is to negotiate the a57 or the bus drivers in culcheth.

although i think now with the weather staying wet i will be taking the road routes more.
