Find identification

Hia guys
Recently joined the forum because I have developed an addiction to cycles.
Anyhow- I came across this at a boat jumble for £15- sure. It's not that cheap, it's a woman's bicycle and the thread on the rear axle was knackered- so it had to be replaced. It came with some full length red painted mudguards- the paint on both the mudguards and frame is incredibly shoddy. It comes off if you push hard enough! Despite, I took off the mudguards but left on the chain guard. I think it looks a little better Just need to fit a men's seat on it to replace the original- I'll keep the original along with the mudguards though.
Have had some great fun on it though. Albeit there are no gears, it's still possible to ride up hills
Can anyone identify it at all? Maybe a rough date too? It seems to all have been branded made in England, other than the tyres.

It looks a bit like a Dawes Kinpin KP 18 , the child's version of the 20" wheeled Kingpin, but it isn't quite right to be that. It's not a Raliegh Twenty either.

What size are the wheels?

It's probably one of the other British brand shopper bikes so it's likely to be mid to late 60's .

It's not a woman's bike either, they were marketed as unisex bikes.

Both wheels are the same size- must've been the camera angle.

Hmmm, can't place it at the moment, all the mixte / twinlats I remember off the top of my head had seat stays joining the rear dropouts with the seat cluster.

No evidence of there ever having been a rack, and there was never a rack when I had bought it.

It's a mystery this bike, I spent a couple of hours yesterday looking for this on the net, I can't find anything like it.

It's been repainted I wonder it the original paint and make is under the green?

Hi Mitch - welcome to the forum.
A mixte is a unisex frame style that has three seats of stays in the rear triangle: the chainstays (from bottom bracket to rear dropout/axle), the seat stays which you'll see on most bicycles (running up from the rear dropout/axle) to the top of the seat post*, and then a third set of stays running through the middle and carrying on to the front of the frame at the top of the top of the headset.

Examples of mixtes here on CycleChat here (traditional/vintage) and here (modern revivals).

Your bike has the chainstays and the middle set of stays (in the form of what are called "twin laterals") but is missing the top-most set of stays up to the top of the seatpost e.g. seat cluster.

It's unusual and lovely as it is, could be a fine little bike.

* Because several tubes join here, it's called the seat cluster. Many manufacturers take the opportunity to do pretty stuff with how all the tubes meet up, just for cosmetic purposes, often specialising in a particular style of seat cluster that they become well-known for. This was especially true when lugs were used to join all the tubes -- the edges of the lugs would be shaped/carved/cut-out in patterns. Mercian is (still) a particularly fine example.

Firstly, I apologies if this muddies the water, but the only comparison I could find (looking thru my catalogues) was a 1960s Royal Enfield Revelation.

Fantastic idea! I'll try and get some of the flaky paint off and see if there is anything there - It needs a repaint anyway. On the paint that has already come off, it seems to be a lighter shade of green that's quite sparkly.
There is also a symbol on the brakes which has intrigued me- I'll try to take a picture of it and I to no avail, I'll draw it.
