Curved blades on nail clippers, what bright spark thought that was a good idea? You can cut any radius with a straight cutter, but a curved edge won't cut a radius that's larger than its own.

I saw an advert for this the other day.

A potential solution or minced finger meat?

Or just use an electric pencil sharpener.

I've a torn nail on the index finger of my dominant hand and I just can't get scissors onto the loose piece. I keep catching it on things and it's painful but I'm just going to have to put up with it until it falls off itself or grows enough to get the scissors in.

I am in pretty much the same boat so I have put a plaster on it to stop it catching and to stop me trying to pull it off and make the situation worse.

I've never needed to cut my fingernails, as I still have all my own teeth, , but now I'm of a certain age I do now need tools to cut my toenails. Used my Swiss army knife scissors for years but due to recurring in grown toenails have recently bought a proper podiatry cutters, and a couple of proddy tools designed to manage that affliction with no further issue.

I dropped my nail clippers into the toilet over the weekend.
Just slipped out of my hand!

The tiny scissors on my Swiss army knife works well for both hands. It is spring loaded. It works for toenails too but I have to get in the right position to manoevre. It has a handy file too. Fortunately my eyes are still OK with specs but I'm not very flexible and my legs are prone to cramp. The joys of longevity! But I'm fortunate compared to many. Chiropody services are available to the elderly if you qualify but as far as fingernails are concerned, the options are limited.

I didn't know chiropodist was available. I assume you mean free/NHS ?
When long covid hit me i thought i was going to have to pay. Fortunately my health has improved slightly but age, sadly, keeps happening.

I can do my finger nails with clippers no problem. I finish with one of those sandpaper nail board thingies.
Toe nails, at my age are a different matter. I sit on a low stool and use larger nail clippers.
I have had ingrowing nails (big toes only) since I was a teenager. I use a trick the Doctor taught me..... I cut a 'V' in the middle which stops the nail digging into the toe.
